Dr. Adrián Villegas Jiménez
CEO and Founder
Adrián is a Mexican scientist and entrepreneur interested in exploiting the potential of scientific and technological capital through the development of innovative business models addressing some of humanity’s greatest challenges such as environmental pollution, habitat destruction and biodiversity loss and climate change. Adrián holds a degree in Oceanography with a concentration in Marine Chemistry from the Autonomous University of Baja California. He holds a Master’s degree in Water Sciences from Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS-ETE) and a Ph.D. in Aquatic Geochemistry awarded by McGill University. He carried out postdoctoral research work at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, D.C. focused on the surface chemistry of carbonate minerals and the interfacial reactivity of nanoparticles in aqueous solutions in collaboration with scientists from the Spallation Neutron Source-Oak Ridge National Laboratory (SNS-ORNL). He has combined his research work with science and environmental consulting activities within the public and private sector for more than seven years. He is presently developing innovative carbon dioxide capture methods based on nanotechnology and the accelerated growth of calcifying marine species.
